400-700 seaside resorts were closely examined by “Legambiente” to draft the Guida Blu, an extremely valuable resource for choosing a holiday resort on your own. Besides exciting nights in the discoes and strolls along the historic streets, you’ll also enjoy the splendor of an uncontaminated environment.

136 beaches were included in the guide and of these only 10 received the maximum rating of  five ‘Vele Qualità’.

One of these uncontaminated beaches is in our region, Tropea, which boasts one of the most spectacular coasts in Italy.

In accordance with the philosophy that ‘environmental quality is not an enemy of tourism, but a remarkable resource that Italy should preserve and a necessary condition for healthy development’, the parameters used for assessment were both positive and negative. Positive qualities taken under consideration: the quality of the water for swimming, the conservation of the historic center, the presence of protected areas, the establishment of  pedestrian areas, the quality of underwater sea-life and the availability of  public transportation to reach the beach. Negative qualities taken under consideration verify the absence of :  excessive development, pollution, traffic, noise, excessive crowds on the beach and poor management of trash collection.
